My friend Dr. Tim Clinton told me the other day, “Bill, if you get 10 people in a room, 7 will have a broken heart.” We live in an imperfect world. A world full of hurt, pain and loss. Perhaps as you read this blog today you are in the middle of the battle to put your heart back together.
My mom is currently dealing with cancer. No doubt it’s the most difficult challenge she has had in her life time. As a son it’s difficult to watch. There are times when it breaks my heart as one would expect. I could name a number of times when my heart has been shattered over the years. My guess is you could share your stories of heart break as well.
For those who have known me for anything length of time, they all know this verse is perhaps one of my favorites. No surprise it’s found in the book of Psalm. King David often shares his deep pain with us.
Psalm 51:17 MSG
Heart-shattered lives ready for love don’t for a moment escape God’s notice.
Perhaps today your heart is just not broken but shattered. I would love to share a couple of things that will bring comfort today. 1.) God is crazy about you. This verse tells us that he has taken note of your pain. God promises us that He’ll restore us, heal us and put together our hearts again. 2.) God is willing to walk through the brokeness in your life. Even if your broken heart is something you did to yourself through your own actions. God delights in you, today, now, forever. Yes, our God is a Holy God that cannot stand sin but we are not sin, we are His child. God delights in you today. That is a phrase you need to remember.
Psalm 56:8 (MSG)
You’ve kept track of my every toss and turn through the sleepless nights, Each tear entered in your ledger, each ache written in your book.
In the NKJV it is said this way, You number my wanderings; Put my tears into Your bottle; Are they not in Your book?
Both versions of these verses tell me God is crazy about you and longs to heal your pain. God puts your tears in a bottle, keeps track of every toss and turn. Enters each tear in a ledger about you. Every ache is accounted for. This paints a picture of a very concerned and caring God.
Know today that your shattered heart hasn’t gone unnoticed and that He will heal your broken heart. The good news is, the best is yet to come.
Many blessings today. Please share this with at least one person.
