I want to begin with this quote, this way you’ll understand I do approach this with balance and yet seriousness.  “We get way too impressed with the devil.” ~Bill Johnson.  I so agree with Bill Johnson on this statement.  However, we also need to take opening spiritual doors that allows Satan to attack us very serious.  The only true power Satan has is if we hand it over to him and often we do without even knowing it.

I don’t believe for a minute you can sit at home reading your horoscope, calling psychics, going to palm readers, being involved in any kind of witchcraft, talking with spirits, without opening spiritual doors that allows demons and curses to turn your life upside down.

Jesus said to Peter, “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to have you, to sift you like wheat.” (Luke 22:31).  That is exactly what Satan will do if you open doors for him to get into your life.  I really believe these doors can be open by the above items of witchcraft I just spoke of, watching demonic movies where Satan is glorified along with other area’s of sin in our life.

Deuternomy 18:9-14 (MSG),

^9-12 ”When you enter the land that God, your God, is giving you, don’t take on the abominable ways of life of the nations there. Don’t you dare sacrifice your son or daughter in the fire. Don’t practice divination, sorcery, fortunetelling, witchery, casting spells, holding séances, or channeling with the dead. People who do these things are an abomination to God. It’s because of just such abominable practices that God, your God, is driving these nations out before you. ^13-14 Be completely loyal to God, your God. These nations that you’re about to run out of the country consort with sorcerers and witches. But not you. God, your God, forbids it.”

God is pretty clear about what doors not to open.  It’s not because He is a kill joy, He just knows these things will kill your joy.  Satan’s goal is for you to be cursed, he is just waiting for you to open the door so he can come in and turn your life upside down.  At that point Satan is an invited guest into your home if you are practicing any of those things.  That statement alone gives me the goose bumps.

Galatians 5:19-21 (MSG)

^19-21″It is obvious what kind of life develops out of trying to get your own way all the time: repetitive, loveless, cheap sex; a stinking accumulation of mental and emotional garbage; frenzied and joyless grabs for happiness; trinket gods; magic-show religion; paranoid loneliness; cutthroat competition; all-consuming-yet-never-satisfied wants; a brutal temper; an impotence to love or be loved; divided homes and divided lives; small-minded and lopsided pursuits; the vicious habit of depersonalizing everyone into a rival; uncontrolled and uncontrollable addictions; ugly parodies of community. I could go on.  This isn’t the first time I have warned you, you know. If you use your freedom this way, you will not inherit God’s kingdom.”

I receive letters all the time from individuals that feel as though they are being cursed or ask for help because everything is going wrong in their life.  Just because you are going through a tough time doesn’t mean you are cursed.  Life can be hard, there is a battle where Satan will try to wear you out.  At the same time many have opened doors and haven’t realized it and cannot win the battle they are in until the doors have been closed and Satan denied the right to cause torment in their lives.

There is a price to pay in order to close the doors that have allowed Satan into our lives.  Acts 19:19 (MSG) ^17-20“It was soon news all over Ephesus among both Jews and Greeks. The realization spread that God was in and behind this. Curiosity about Paul developed into reverence for the Master Jesus. Many of those who thus believed came out of the closet and made a clean break with their secret sorceries. All kinds of witches and warlocks came out of the woodwork with their books of spells and incantations and made a huge bonfire of them. Someone estimated their worth at fifty thousand silver coins. In such ways it became evident that the Word of the Master was now sovereign and prevailed in Ephesus.”

I love what Matthew Henry’s commentary has to say about this verse.

“It was common, especially among the Jews, for persons to profess or to try to cast out evil spirits. If we resist the devil by faith in Christ, he will flee from us; but if we think to resist him by the using of Christ’s name, or his works, as a spell or charm, Satan will prevail against us. Where there is true sorrow for sin, there will be free confession of sin to God in every prayer and to man whom we have offended, when the case requires it. Surely if the word of God prevailed among us, many lewd, infidel, and wicked books would be burned by their possessors. Will not these Ephesian converts rise up in judgement against professors, who traffic in such works for the sake of gain, or allow themselves to possess them? If we desire to be in earnest in the great work of salvation, every pursuit and enjoyment must be given up which hinders the effect of the gospel upon the mind, or loosens its hold upon the heart.”

So what if we have opened doors to our life that has caused us to live under a curse with demonic influence going on in our life?   I would suggest a couple of things:

1.  Make sure you close those doors.  Ask the Lord for forgiveness.  Tell Satan you no longer are in agreement with him in those areas.  Break any ties with the past in these areas one at a time.  Name them and break them in the name of Jesus.

2.  I would encourage you to read two books that have blown me and others away over the years.  Neil Anderson’s “Victory Over The Darkness” and “Bondage Breakers.”  Both of these books are written by Neil Anderson.  You’ll find the freedom you are searching for and of course learn who you are in Christ and how to walk in that authority.

3.  I would encourage you to read my book, “The Day Satan Called.”  This book is a true story about open doors and spiritual warfare.  You’ll find encouragement, insight into spiritual warfare and I believe the book is a life changer.

You can live in freedom and break any curse or demonic stronghold that has been placed on your life.  Many times we open doors not on purpose but out of not being educated to the things of God and what opens the doors we want to keep closed.

Who are you agreeing with?  Are you still making agreements with Satan or have you lined yourself up with what God has to say about you and your circumstances?  Does your self talk go something like this:  I’m too skinny or I’m too fat, my finances are never going to straighten out, there’s no hope for my marriage, my son is a mess, I’m ugly, I’m dumb…….. what exactly do you say to yourself or others about yourself?

You have the right to live free of demonic problems like you are facing. The Bible is very clear that we can live free of strong holds that try to torment us.

You need to do a couple of things in order to take control of your home ok?

1. You can cleanse your home. You simply take oil of any kind, that represents the blood of Jesus. Walk through each room, put a cross on the windows, door, some place in the room and claim that room for Jesus and in the power of Jesus command anything dark and evil to leave in Jesus name. Ask Jesus to send angels to fight on your behalf. Walk in your authority and command these demons to leave in Jesus name. Go through every room and repeat.

2. Walk your property line and pray the whole time. I prayed once in Jesus name and told Satan to watch me because I was putting down a blood line by the power of Jesus name and where I walked he could not pass through in Jesus name and anything on my property dark and evil had to leave in Jesus name. As you can see I use Jesus name a lot, why? Because I have no power outside of His name.

3. Go through your home and ask the Lord if there are any open doors that would allow demons in your home. This could be objects, Ouija boards, darks movies etc… The Lord will show you. When in doubt throw it out. Also pray and ask the Lord if you have any sin in your life that could be an open door. Ask for forgiveness in Jesus name.

4. I would pray a prayer over your property. Something like this. ” In Jesus name I break any agreements that this property has had with Satan in the past in Jesus name. I am the owner and I break all agreements with Satan and give this home to Jesus Christ and invite the Holy Spirit to live in this home. I plead the blood of Jesus over this home. I command any evil and foul spirit to leave this home now in Jesus name.

You have the authority to take control of your home. I want you to walk in the freedom that God promises all of us. This can begin today. After doing this these demons might test you a couple of times, stand your ground and tell them to leave in Jesus name and that this is God’s home now and to leave now. You will win this battle.

priesthood he was chosen by lot to enter the temple of the Lord and burn incense.   And the whole multitude of the people were praying outside at the hour of incense.  And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.

I am sure we have all read the story of Zechariah being told by the angel Gabriel that his prayer had been heard and his wife was going to have a son and they were to call his name John.  Zechariah asked for a sign that this was true and Gabriel told him that he wouldn’t be able to speak until the child was born since he didn’t just believe his words.  It’s real easy to look at this situation and wonder why Zechariah would question this when he had an angel standing in front of him telling him, but did you realize that it had been 400 years since God had spoken to anyone in Israel?  It had been 400 years since God had spoken through the prophets and the Israelites had been through a lot during that time and still no one was hearing from God.

How much are we like Zechariah?  On the one side; how often do you pray and pray and yet you aren’t really expecting anything miraculous from God?  You go through your every day routine, praying and maybe even fasting but there would be utter surprise if God answered you today!  Zechariah wasn’t quite ready for his answer even though he had prayed for years.

On the other hand; when God is silent do you get so discouraged that you don’t continue to do what you are supposed to be doing?  Maybe this is the lesson to learn from Zechariah;  he wasn’t the only one that God was silent to, it was the entire nation – think of how horrible that would be, no one was hearing from God and it wasn’t for 4 days or even 4 years it was for 400 years!  But, regardless of God’s silence Zechariah continued to be faithful and continued to serve God on every level.  When you don’t get an answer right away or you feel as though God is silent, do you get angry and quit serving or do you become indifferent and stop reading your Bible?  What is your response to God’s silence or God’s answer of “wait”?  Zechariah was still where he was supposed to be and doing what he was supposed to be doing, how else will you hear from God?

I would encourage each of us today to examine our hearts and know that even though God is silent He is still working.  In Israel’s case He was preparing the way for the Lord of Lords, the King of Kings – Jesus.  What great things is He preparing for you in your life that may take just a little bit longer before He says, “ok, here’s the plan, here is what I have been working on for you.”?  The key is to remain faithful and to believe that the best is yet to come, God is working even if He isn’t talking, He hasn’t forgotten you, He is working hard on your behalf so do your part by remaining faithful, serve Him with your whole heart as if you had your answer today because you never know which today it is that will hold your answer!  It could be today – ah ah, where is your faith, don’t allow Satan’s lies to rob you of your joy as you wait because your answer is truly closer than you think!  Rest in God today knowing that He loves you and He will bring it to pass and be faithful to Him as you wait!

The Bible promises we will win the war should we walk with the Lord.  I have heard many preachers say, “I have read the end of the book and we win!”  I agree with that with my whole heart, however, many battles are lost before a war is won.

So often we as Christians love to shoot our wounded.  We see someone that has lost a battle in their life and our first reaction is to shoot them and be done with them.  If I had a dollar for every time I have heard the phrase, “Christians are the only ones who shoot their wounded” I would be a rich man.   I hate that phrase, mainly because it’s true.  So if we are not suppose to shoot our wounded, what are we to do?  I love the passage we find in Galatians 6:1-3 (Msg).

“Live creatively, friends. If someone falls into sin, forgivingly restore him, saving your critical comments for yourself. You might be needing forgiveness before the day’s out. Stoop down and reach out to those who are oppressed. Share their burdens, and so complete Christ’s law. If you think you are too good for that, you are badly deceived.”

So, if we see someone who loses the battle, we should forgive them and help restore them.  I love the next part of this verse, “Saving your critical comments.”  So many times I have heard about how bad the person is who has fallen or how dumb it was for them to have given everything up.  You see very few are willing to forgive even though they  have experienced God’s forgiveness. Very few are willing to stoop down and help the person back on their feet.  The Bible is so bold to say that if we don’t do this we are deceived.  We have missed the boat.

King David lost the battle.  We see how David in the quiet of the night saw Basheeba and desired her.  He committed adultery, got her pregnant, called her husband back from war hoping he would sleep with her so people would think it was his baby.  When her husband wouldn’t sleep with her, David sent him back to war and made sure he was placed on the front line so he would be killed.  David lost the battle and yet God chose to continue to use David as King. David had to face the consequence of his sin as we all do.  I love this verse.

Act 13:22, “Bu God removed Saul and replaced him with David, a man about who God said, ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart.  He will do everything I want him to do.  God knows all things.  It didn’t catch God by surprise that David would lose a battle or two in his life time.  At the end of the day David was a man after God’s own heart.  That is huge thing to say.

Peter was a disciple of Christ.  Peter was in the inner circle.  We read about him often in the New Testament.  Peter lost the battle big time.  Can you imagine denying knowing Jesus three times.  How horrible to swear you don’t know Him.

Matthew 26:69-75, All this time, Peter was sitting out in the courtyard. One servant girl came up to him and said, “You were with Jesus the Galilean.”  In front of everybody there, he denied it. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”  As he moved over toward the gate, someone else said to the people there, “This man was with Jesus the Nazarene.”   Again he denied it, salting his denial with an oath: “I swear, I never laid eyes on the man.”  Shortly after that, some bystanders approached Peter. “You’ve got to be one of them. Your accent gives you away.”  Then he got really nervous and swore. “I don’t know the man!”

If I were Jesus and in time of urgent need, I would have turned my back on Peter after he threw me under the bus.  Praise God that is not where the story ends.  Our God is a God of restoration.  Just because you lose a battle it doesn’t cause you to lose your calling that God has placed on you, it doesn’t mean you can no longer be used or cannot be forgiven.  Take a look at what Jesus ended up doing with Peter.

Matthew 16:18, “I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it.”

Jesus used Peter to be the foundation of the church.  Jesus knew what Peter would accomplished with the call that was placed on his life.  He wasn’t thrown aside.  His better days where not behind him, in fact Jesus was going to use this man to be the foundation of his church.

I saw this t-shirt the other day and instead of feeling pumped my spirit really sank.   Don’t get me wrong, we should all have our arms in the air cheering the fact that Christ has forgiven our past.  What sank in my spirit was that we don’t have this same image or cheer when our fellow brothers and sisters fall and receive God’s forgiveness.  As a matter of fact some even get angry when they watch God restore someone who has fallen.  As Christian’s it’s normal to be disappointed when another believer falls.  It can even be devastating if one of our leaders fall.  However, lets pray for total restoration and believe that God will use that individual in a much greater way than before the fall.  Lets cheer when that person gets back up and not only finishes the race but finishes the race well!  Lets stop throwing believers out when they fail, lets be part of the process to help restore them.

Perhaps you are struggling with the question yourself, will God use me again?  The answer is yes and I believe that the best is yet to come.  God uses broken people, God restores the fallen and God always continues the journey with you.  Don’t allow those who have turned their back on you to determine if you can get back up again.  I heard someone once say you don’t judge God’s Word by peoples actions but you judge peoples actions by God’s Word.  I am sorry if someone made you feel that you cannot make a come back.  God is ready and willing to restore you and also willing to help you restore someone who have fallen.

I love what Joel Osteen once said, “Your set back has made you ready for your come back.”  Today’s a new day, get up and win a battle.  Do not let last week hold you back.  PLEASE SHARE this with others who need to be encouraged.
