If you have read my latest book “The Day Satan Called” then you’ll remember me sharing that my wife and I had friends over who agreed to cleanse our home.  To be honest, up to that point I had never heard of cleansing your home.  This is going to be a very basic explanation of when, why and how to kind of a post.

• What does it mean to cleanse your home?  Cleansing your home is a way to get rid of any evil spirits that might be causing problems in your home.  For some this kind of problem might come in the form of actually seeing demons, hearing them, being struck by them, doors opening and closing and even the since of no peace but heaviness in your home.  No doubt there are different levels of spiritual activity that can attack your home.

• Why Cleanse Your Home?  As a believer you have the authority to stop any kind of demonic activity in your home.  Things don’t have to go bump in the night.  You don’t have to live with a spirit of heaviness or anything in between what I just mentioned.  You cleanse your home to command anything demonic to leave.  This is your right.  Luke 10:19, “Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.”  2 Corinthians 10:14, “For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.”

• How to Cleanse Your Home?  Again, until I had my house invaded by demons which I share about in my book, I never knew how to cleanse my home.  Up to this point I didn’t know that I needed to do that.  When my doors started opening and closing at night, it became very unnerving.  Lights started turning on and off, something began hitting me in the dark and finally we saw something walking down our hall way and both my wife and I knew it was a demon. To cleanse your home, take some oil (any kind, cooking oil etc…) and begin to anoint the doors and windows in each room.  Janet and I put a cross at the top of each window and door as we walk through our home.  Why oil?  Oil is a symbol of the blood of Jesus and we know that Satan is defeated by the blood of the Lamb.  There is no magic prayer but this is what we usually pray as we walk through every room in our home.  “In Jesus name, I command Satan and anything evil to leave this room.  I bind you in Jesus name, take authority over you in Jesus name and command you to leave this room and house.  Holy Spirit I welcome you to fill this room with your peace and love.  Lord, I thank you for the victory.  In Jesus name, amen.”  Exodus 40:9, “Then you shall take the anointing oil and anoint the tabernacle and all that is in it, and consecrate it and all it’s furniture, so that it may become holy.  Remember Isaiah 54:17, “No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall confuse every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.”

• Close Open Doors.  Ask the Holy Spirit to share with you what open doors you might have that would allow Satan to come into your home.  Example, view porn, rebellion, addictions, secret sins, satanic movies and even objects.  Janet and I travel to other countries and we are careful not to bring back items that might have connection with other gods.  A good verse to go wit that is Deuteronomy 7:25-26, “The carved images of their gods you shall burn with fire. You shall not covet the silver or the gold that is on them or take it for yourselves, lest you be ensnared by it, for it is an abomination to the Lord your God. And you shall not bring an abominable thing into your house and become devoted to destruction like it. You shall utterly detest and abhor it, for it is devoted to destruction.”  I came home from one trip and had stones with spirit names on them without realizing it.  Needless to say I considered that open doors and it ended up in the garbage.  Satan will look for any open door in order to cause your home problems.  Simply pray and ask the Lord if there are open doors.  I’ll never forget when my home was haunted and we couldn’t get the demons to leave.  I was confused as to why things continued to torment us.  Finally when I saw a demon in my home and asked the spirit why it was in my home and it said, “I’m an invited guest into this home.”  Wow, not what I was expecting to hear.  Long story short, I found occult items under the bed of the witch that I was trying to rescue.  She was staying in our guest bedroom and left some of her stuff when she moved out.   Those objects gave Satan the right to stay in my home.  Once I destroyed the items the demons left for good.  Do not under estimate the power of open doors.  Keep in mind Satan is waiting to destroy your family.  John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” One of the open doors could be playing with things from the occult like a Ouija board, reading your signs, seeing what the paper has to say about your future, palm reading etc…  The Bible is clear this is wrong, Leviticus 20:6, ““If a person turns to mediums and necromancers, whoring after them, I will set my face against that person and will cut him off from among his people.”

Let me close with this.  Hosea 4:6, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.”  It’s up to us to learn about how to battle Satan and the demons that are attacking our homes.  We don’t need to focus on Satan and demons, our focus is on God, however, we need to know how to win the battle in Jesus name.

2 Timothy 1:7, “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”  You don’t have to live in fear.  Peace is something that God gives to all of us.  It’s time to take authority over Satan and receive the peace that God has for you.

There are many battles that find us in life.  Some of the battles we create by making bad decisions, others come our way simply because Satan would like to see us stumble and fall.  God has given you the tools to succeed and win the different battles that  you and your family are facing.

I was reading Ephesians chapter 1 today in the Message version of the Bible and it really touched my heart, I am assuming it will do the same for you.

I am just going to give you a few verses from this awesome chapter.

Ephesians 1: 3-14 (MSG)

³ Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. ⁴ For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love ⁵ he^[b] predestined us for adoption to sonship^[c] through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— ⁶ to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. ⁷ In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace ⁸ that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, ⁹ he^[d] made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, ¹⁰ to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.

I love the fact that God decided to give us every spiritual blessing and that he chose us before the creation of the world.  How crazy is that? No doubt you have days as I do wondering if God really has my life under control?  At times things seem to be so out of control and yet this verse talks about how God had me in mind before creating the earth.  I guess that reenforces the fact that He is not winging it when it comes to the plans for my life.  Nothing has caught God by surprised, me perhaps but not God.

I love the word adoption that is used in the passage.  I know how special adoption is.  My older brother was adopted into our family and my son Ryan is adopted.  I chose to make Ryan my son and give him all that I have.  No one made me do it.  I wasn’t stuck with Ryan, I chose him.  God chose you, He delights in you and is crazy about you.

We have all done some dumb things and have chosen to rebel against God at times in our life.  Through the blood of Christ all of us now have redemption.  We don’t have to live under sin.  We can get up and see the victory in our life that God has put into place.  We have been given what we need to see victory.

God has promised all of us victory.  What are you doing today to make sure you walk in victory?  We have to first know what it looks like to walk in victory right?  That is why its so important to study the Word on a regular basis.  God has left you every spiritual blessing, now it’s time to dig in and find out what those blessings are.

Perhaps today you are struggling with the battle of your life.  You might be reading all of this because you woke up this morning really wondering if you can see victory in your lifetime.  Take time to read this full chapter.  You’ll find comfort and the answer to the question you rolled out of bed with this morning.

As I am sitting in my hotel room tonight in Southern California.  I am thinking of the encouragement the Bible and many others have given us concerning the battle in which we face.

I know for Janet and I we have fought hard this year for our family, financially, our marriage and of course our latest book The Day Satan Called.  I don’t think Satan likes it when someone writes a book about the battle we are facing and lives are being changed.

I just wanted to take a minute and write down a few verses you may find great comfort in along with some great quotes on spiritual warfare.

Hebrews 4:12-13

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

Ok, I have been watching all of the hoopla on the Twilight movies.  I don’t think I have to share

with most about the new movie being out.  It’s all over TV, magazines and online.

I am not asking that everyone agrees with me on what I am about to share.  I hope you’ll at least read this with an open mind and be willing to pray about this.  At the end of the day you’ll have to do what is right for you personally and I think we can all agree with that.

I would like to begin with a verse I have been thinking about lately.

2 Corinthians 11:14, “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.”

Some times I think Satan appears so evil that many will not receive a film, TV program, music etc…  The Bible is very clear that Satan can also appear as an angel of light.

Some of you reading this today would never dream of watching the movie “The Last Exorcism” that came out about a year ago.  A movie like that is perhaps so evil there is no way that you would consider watching it.  Perhaps “Paranormal Activity 3″ is a movie that is still to evil for you to watch.  But what about a vampire movie that has two good looking lead actors in it with a great romance theme to it?  Is Satan appearing more subtle, an angel of light so more would be willing to let down their guard?

Edward is part of a coven which is of course witchcraft.  A scared woman, who’s one of the housekeepers at their island retreat, calls Edward a “demon,” and Jacob remarks that Bella is carrying a demon. When the housekeeper places her hand on Bella’s stomach, she hisses, “Death!”  I love the conclusion that www.pluggedin.com offered in their review.  “The film wants us to ignore the bloodsucking nastiness of it all by masking it in selfless actions and sweet baby smiles. And it even asks Twihards to root for a supernaturally dark death so it can sink in its fangs and magically save the day. But if you’re looking, the truth is driven home by the impact on Bella’s withering body, her internally snapping bones and eventually stone-cold heart. This is a vampire movie after all.”

So when I read stories of teens that have been vampires since 6th grade it breaks my heart. “I became a vampire, I think.  So I was in 6th grade and I went home.  I went to bed and I heard voices calling my name…”  Another post,  “So I don’t like this think I am dealing with.  It’s hard to keep cool at night when apart of me just goes out in the night.  I am feeling like dead.  I cray and eat and drink blood…”

I realize Twilight is romantic but vampires are very real.  I know vampires like in the movies do not exist, however, people who drink blood are real.  There are web sites on how to enter a vampire community without looking like a fool.  When you play with fire you eventually get burned.  Can you be entertained with witches, demons and vampires and not have it impact your life?  I think the answer is no.  I have talked with to many people who have shared with me the impact some of these movies have had on their lives.  Its no wonder we find the following verses in the Bible.

Leviticus 19:31 Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.

Isaiah 8:19 And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?

I am not forcing anyone to not watch this movie.  At the end of the day you might think I am over reacting to some of these movies and that is ok?  The only thing I ask is that you at least read this with an open mind and pray about it.

My wonderful wife Janet does a daily blog called Chocolate and God.  It’s filled with recipes, beauty tips, books for women and a daily Bible study that flat out rocks.

you serve.”  Then the devil left him , and behold, angels came and were ministering to him.”

When Satan tried to tempt Jesus he had to have known it was a stretch to think that he could tempt the Son of God, the creator of all to

worship him, the created but he just had to try.  The wonderful thing though about God allowing him to try is the example that Jesus gave each of us through it.  Jesus proved that through God’s word we can all have victory over anything Satan throws at us.  God allowed Satan to tempt Jesus as a man during a time of physical weakness after fasting for 40 days and Jesus used scripture to overcome.  We can have that same victory on a daily basis if we choose to.

What temptations or habits do you have in your life that you just feel defeated in?  What all have you tried to win the battle?  Have you tried memorizing scripture?  As the Bible says in Ephesians 6  “Put on the whole armor of God” that begins with knowing the word of God.  Pull up Biblegateway and search for verses to help you gain the victory by  truly knowing who you are in Christ and by looking for His promises to give you the help and guidance you need.  Spend time daily reading your Bible, as it says in Joshua “meditate in it day and night that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein.  For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”  We can have victory and we can have it starting today.  Ask a close friend to walk with you through your struggle and get in the word today and find some verses to help and encourage you along the way!  You can win that battle today!

So many people have read my latest book, “The Day Satan Called” and the response is, “I don’t deal with anything demonic.”  My response is the following, “Who needs a ghost at the end of the bed when someone else’s spouse is climbing in with you.”  Here is another response I also give, “Who needs to hear a voice in the night when you are at your computer viewing porn.”

Do I think most people will experience what I did during the period in which I wrote the book about?  My answer is most won’t.  That doesn’t mean you won’t be attacked spiritually or deal with demonic activity.  Perhaps we don’t recognize demonic activity and pass it off as something else and therefore don’t even enter the battle that is going on for our family.

I do believe that witches, warlocks and true satanist are living around us.  I talked with a close friend just yesterday who shared with me about a young girl they tried to rescue from a satanic cult.  They were able to get into the inner circle and receive emails about activity that was taking place in their city and state.  He still has the emails today.  Emails about harming those wanting to leave their coven, about sacrificing babies and even emails about how the people who have prayed ruined their plans, this referring to Christians.  If you don’t think there are groups praying against your family, then you are in for more of a battle than you might be prepared for.  Don’t underestimate the enemy.

I don’t believe most of us are even going to encounter what is written above but I do believe  Satan’s most dangerous tool is the “Unseen Battle.”  What if Satan could get us to believe that he is not even real?  It’s amazing that 40% of those who attend church don’t even believe Satan is real, they just believe he is just a symbol for evil.  So if we don’t even believe he is real and that there is a battle going on for our families, we are going to lose the battle because we are not fighting.  It’s no wonder divorce is over 50% in and outside of the church.  There is nothing more demonic than a family breaking up.  How demonic is it that someone is addicted to drugs and cannot function in society?   How demonic is it for a husband to sit at his computer for hours viewing porn or chatting with other women instead of focusing that time on his marriage?  How demonic is it for married couples to use intimacy as a tool of discipline, withholding affection instead of working through their problems?  What is your “unseen battle”?

I am sure the question being asked right now is how can Christians be impacted by demons?  Any area of your life that you are willing to surrender to Satan he will take.  When you decided to view porn or there are any other areas of your life where you lack self control, a hook is placed into you that makes it nearly impossible on your own to have victory.  Have you ever thought that it’s because there is a demon that is holding you back?  That is an example of a demonic stronghold in in your life and Satan doesn’t want you to be free.  A demon doesn’t have to be spotted in your living room when you are opening doors spiritually but trust me there is something very demonic about the struggles we face on a daily basis, from porn to divorce, drug addiction to, well you fill in the blank, what are you struggling with?

1 Peter 5:8, “Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”

John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”

Ephesians 610-18 (MSG), “^10-12And that about wraps it up.  God is strong, and he wants you strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no afternoon athletic contest that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels.

^13-18Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.”

The Bible is so clear that we are in a battle and it’s a spiritual one.  So why is this message so taboo in our churches today?  We need to be on the look out for demonic attacks and need to know how to fight them, break them and live in victory and the freedom that God has promised to every believer.

I don’t believe there is a demon under every rock or tree.  However, I think it’s crazy to think you are not under attack.  Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to show you where there is demonic activity in your home.   I would encourage you to read my new book, The Day Satan Called.  I believe this book will give you a great look into spiritual warfare like you never imagined.  Many have said the book has been a life changer for them, below are a few comments that I have received about the book.”

Regardless of the level of warfare you are experiencing in your home right now, you can receive God’s freedom for your family.  You don’t have to live under demonic control.  You can win the battle.  Yes, there is a battle but with the power of Christ you can win!

Bill Scott – The Day Satan Called

My wife wrote this the other day I wanted to share this with you.  It is worth the read.

Isaiah 1:18

Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

I love snow and when there is a fresh blanket of snow it just seems as though everything is fresh and clean, it is like a fresh start!  There is just something invigorating and refreshing to look out and see the beauty of everything fresh and white!  We seldom see such a thing here in Middle TN, but that’s ok, I don’t miss the shoveling.

God has gone to great lengths to help you keep your past in your past and your mistakes out of your way.  Are you allowing Him to give you the fresh start you need today or are you beating yourself up over the mistakes you have made?  I would encourage you if you are still making those mistakes to STOP IT!  Seriously, why live under the bondage of Satan when you can live free with a new lease on life.  If you know someone wallowing in the pit of I can’t forgive myself encourage them to climb out and get started on life again.  Don’t live a defeated life God paid an awful high price by giving his son for you to live a victorious life.  Why would you settle for anything else?

Reach out today to God and ask Him to show you any areas you may need His forgiveness in and then ask Him to help you move on and live the life He created you to live.  Jesus gave His life for you sins, how frustrating it must be for Him to watch people who have been forgiven live in the guilt of something His death paid the price for so they didn’t have to live that way.  God has called you to a victorious life in Him so get started today; don’t allow Satan to rob you of that!
