The Battle of Hopelessness, Satan’s Top Tool

Each day I have an area on my Facebook where people can submit their name so I can pray for them.  Hopelessness is something that many deal with on a daily basis.  I just received this prayer request minutes ago, “Heavenly Father please heal my family. I feel so alone.”  One of Satan’s biggest tools used on believers is hopelessness.  If you are being honest, you have experienced hopelessness in your own life at some point, perhaps even as you read this.  I’ll be honest with you, this week I was attack with hopelessness and it’s one of the worse feelings in the world.  The Bible says the following.

John 10:10,

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Satan is focused on taking you down.  If he can get you to feel hopeless in your marriage, job, future, finances, kids, friends etc… than he can destroy you and any potential you have.  In Isaiah 61:3 it says, “The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;”  I think this verse would really hit home if it was written, “The garment of praise for the DEMON of heaviness.”  Can you have heaviness and it not be a demon? of course.  However, I really believe a lot of the time Satan has come to put hopelessness and heaviness on us so we cannot function.  Getting someone to pray over us when we feel hopelessness is powerful and putting on worship music is a huge tool in the battle to defeat heaviness, this is why the Bible says put on the garment of praise.  It’s like God has given us the prescription for the sickness that has been placed upon us.  The later part of John 10:10 says that God has given us life and that He wants us to have it more abundantly.  That sounds like the total opposite of hopelessness, amen?  Satan cannot create anything, he can only pervert what God has already made.  God has given us an abundant life, Satan has perverted that and brings us hopelessness.  We need to learn to see the tools of Satan so we can win the battle.  With 40 percent of those going to church not even believing Satan is real, no wonder we are getting the crap kicked out of us.

I woke up this morning and really hearing the Lord saying that I was to write about hopelessness.  Now check this out.  My wife is in the next room writing her daily Bible study for Chocolate and God.  I was blown away to find out she was also writing about hopelessness.  She wrote this today.

“Life can be so frustrating at times and Satan knows just exactly when to attack and he knows exactly what tactics to use.  He watches and he is patient so when he sees you are down he knows it is time to kick you even harder so he can get you to the point of feeling as though your situation is hopeless.  Your situation is never hopeless unless you give up or you refuse to give it all to God!  I know how it feels to be in a situation where you are at the end of all you can take and you can’t see how things can work out.  After Bill and I had to shut down the ministry we were overwhelmed with the fact that we both lost our salaries and there were bills yet that still had to be paid before we could “officially” shut things down, it all seemed hopeless.  How do you pay your own bills as well as the bills of a ministry when you both lost your income?  Maybe for you it is your finances, the economy really took a dive a couple years ago and I know many people lost jobs and then once money is an issue in a relationship a lot of times marriages are jeopardized because of the stress.

Whatever it is you are facing today Jesus would like you to come to Him just like the lady who just knew “If I touch even his garments, I will be made well.”  Take any feelings of hopelessness, hurt or frustration you may have today and know that He does care and He can and will help, pour your heart out to Him today trusting that He will move in your life and He can heal you of your illness, He can heal your marriage and your finances, nothing is too difficult for Him!  In the case of this woman, Jesus didn’t even set out to help her, she believed and it was so.  Trust Him today, pray that He will give you any faith you are lacking for your situation and walk in victory today, knowing that the best is yet to come!”  (Read Full Bible Study)

A great quote was also in Janet’s Bible study, “Hope never dies where faith is strong, and faith grows strong in the presence of hope.”  Chad Whitmeyer

I want to take a minute and share a few scriptures that will be of great encouragement to you to so you can overcome any hopelessness.

Psalm 34:17-20, “When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken.”

Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Isaiah 40:31, “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

Revelation 21:4, “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

Ephesians 3:20“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.”

There is HOPE!  See hopelessness for what it is, an attack from Satan.  Pray against it, listen to worship music and spend time in the Word of God so you can hear the truth and find out about God’s abundance for your life.

Today if you’ll go to my Facebook, you can CLICK LIKE on the post about hopelessness and I’ll pray for you by name and so will others. You will win the battle, there is hope and God is working on your behalf so DON’T GIVE UP.  Do me a favor, share this blog like crazy through email, blogs, Twitter, Facebook etc…  So many people are feeling hopeless today, lets fight the battle together and win this war!

Never hopeless although at times it feels that way. Wake up, have a daily devotion, ask the Holy Spirit to fill you and take it one day at a time. This is for a season but the best will come.
